Just do it
I’ve made some youtube videos of Japan (you can see my channel here) & I’m always amazed about the comments:
“I love Japan! One day I’ll go!”
“One day I will be in Japan!”
“Love it- one day I will be there!”
Its reached a borderline petpeeve. I hear it all the time. I even get emails about it. “How was Tokyo? One day I’ll….” but we all know that the one day if it isn’t planned/realized/a goal, is just blah blah talk. And there is a big difference between saying you’re going to do something and actually doing it.
Some quotes for inspiration:
“Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such.” – Henry Miller
“Live, travel, adventure, bless, and don’t be sorry.”
-Jack Kerouac
“Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music- the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls & interesting people. Forget yourself.” – Henry Miller
“Your life will flash before your eyes one day. Make sure its worth watching.”
“GATHER ye rosebuds while ye may, Old Time is still a-flying: And this same flower that smiles to-day To-morrow will be dying.” – Robert Herrick (I pulled out the big guns here!)
Now go. Enough postponing, enough procrastination. Live your life. I don’t care if its for visiting Japan, or learning a language, or doing the things you want to do. Just do it. JUST DO IT. And take a piece of paper from below.
